Do not panic.
The influenza virus is very contagious, and if you don’t take steps to prevent catching it, you risk catching it.
It’s even possible to contract the virus from other people who’ve been vaccinated.
This can lead to more serious illness, but you may be able to recover.2.
Get tested for flu symptoms.
Flu vaccines are available through your doctor and will give you a quick, comprehensive test.
It should help to spot flu symptoms early on.
If you don´t get tested, you can always come in and get your shots.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended flu shots for adults ages 18 and older for the first two months after the flu shot is administered, and then every six months thereafter.3.
If your flu symptoms are mild, you probably don´ t need treatment.
But you can get a flu shot if you:A.
Have severe symptoms, like flu-like symptoms or fever that gets worse within 30 minutes of your last dose of the vaccine, even if you feel well.
Have not had a flu-related hospitalization in the past six months.
Have had at least three doses of flu vaccine since the last dose.4.
Get a flu vaccine with your regular vaccination schedule.
Most people who have a flu illness do not have to be on an extended flu vaccine regimen.
But if you’re on a restricted flu vaccine schedule, talk to your doctor.
If that doesn’t work, talk with your doctor about getting additional vaccines.5.

D: Take care of yourself, including avoiding heavy drinking.
