article source Bloomberg headline Trojan virus infects computers in Europe, Asia and US, study finds article By Michael J. CramerAssociated PressMarch 24, 2019 12:02:23More than a dozen countries in Europe and Asia are infected by a new strain of a virus that can cause massive damage, including disabling machines and paralyzing people.
A new study of infected computers in the West shows the virus has the potential to cause the widespread paralysis and death of people in the region, including in the US and Australia, and has infected more than 4,500 computers worldwide.
Researchers at the University of Washington and Harvard Medical School, which conducted the study, said the virus was spreading through the air, infecting people and spreading rapidly among infected computers.
The researchers said they believe the virus is the result of a “lack of control,” and the virus likely originated in the Philippines.
The researchers said the Philippines has been the center of a large outbreak of coronavirus in recent months.
The US and Europe are among the worst affected countries, with about 6,700 people killed by coronaviruses.
